The University of Virginia Colonnade Club Board of Governors stands in full support of the opinions expressed by the University of Virginia Rector Frank M. Conner III.  (http://news.virginia.edu/content/president-sullivan-condemns-demonstration-violence#rector)

On behalf of the University of Virginia Colonnade Club Board of Governors, Faculty, and Alumni, we stand alongside Rector Conner in our collective condemnation and disgust of the events that unfolded in our community last weekend.  The acts of hatred and violence by white nationalists, white supremacists and neo-Nazi activists constituted domestic terrorism.  Our message is that we will stand united.

The impact within our university community and throughout our Charlottesville neighborhoods has triggered renewed resolve to fight for peace and justice.  We applaud deeds and actions that uphold the values and integrity of our moral code.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the families and friends who lost their loved ones due to the unwelcomed hatred that invaded our grounds.

We want to convey to those of us who call Charlottesville home, as well as to the eyes of the world, that we share with you the desire to embrace a sense of hope for all who stand for what is just, fair and kind.
